How do I repair my Blitzfire oscillation mechanism?
If the oscillation mechanism on your Blitzfire monitor becomes damaged or stops functioning, it’s time for an upgrade. This guide walks you through replacing the older style oscillation assembly with the current version. Note that TFT no longer supplies service parts for the old design—so this is a full assembly replacement. The blue casting remains intact.
Tools You Will Need
-
3/16" Allen wrench
-
1/8" Allen wrench
-
7/16" combination wrench
-
Red and blue Loctite
-
The new oscillation kit (including mounting bracket, oscillation wheel, spring tube, etc.)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Remove the Old Oscillation Assembly
-
Use the 3/16" Allen wrench to remove the two screws securing the old oscillation mechanism.
-
These screws have red Loctite, so expect some resistance.
-
Once removed, pull the mechanism off via the oscillation shaft and set it aside.
-
- Remove the Cover Plate
-
Rotate the unit and remove the three cover screws using the 1/8" Allen wrench.
-
Keep these screws—you’ll reuse them.
-
- Detach the Old Oscillation Wheel
-
Using the 3/16" Allen wrench, remove the bottom screw holding the wheel in place.
-
Carefully pry off the old wheel using a flathead screwdriver, working both sides evenly.
-
- Mount the New Oscillation Wheel
-
Align the two pins on the new wheel with the holes in the bronze gear.
-
Apply red Loctite to the mounting screw and tighten using the 3/16" Allen wrench.
-
- Reinstall the Cover Plate
-
Apply blue Loctite to each hole and reattach the cover using the original screws.
-
Slightly snug each screw before final tightening.
-
- Install the Linkage Mechanism
-
Insert the plastic swivel ball into the linkage block if not pre-installed.
-
Drop the linkage into the shaft hole and secure with a screw and washer using the 1/8" Allen wrench.
-
It should rotate freely when snugged down.
-
- Thread the Spring Tube
-
Thread the spring tube into the top block until it just starts to engage the opposite side.
-
Apply red Loctite to both threaded ends.
-
Use the 7/16" wrench on the flats to snug the assembly.
-
- Install the Degree Control Block
-
Disengage the locking pin and rotate it 90°.
-
Slide the mechanism on so the pin aligns with the guide groove.
-
Align and mount the rear bracket using the two new screws with red Loctite.
-
Tighten using a ¼" T-handle wrench.
-
- Check the function by moving the oscillation selector block to check all degree settings (20°, 30°, 40°). Engage and disengage the pin to verify proper locking and movement.
Final Test
Take your Blitzfire outside and flow water through it. Important: The oscillating function requires at least 175 GPM to operate correctly. Test under flow to ensure full function.
